Daphne odora Aureomarginata

Daphne – A heady scent of spring

Daphne odora ‘Aureogmarginata’ is a beautiful shrub that fill the garden with the most fabulous perfume as well as being covered with pink/white flowers in early spring.  We at Greenshutters Garden Centre think it is one of the most fantastic scents you can get in the garden.  I planted one several years ago and now when it flowers, you can smell it all over the garden centre.  I like to sit on the bench next to it and take in the perfume.  It prefers a sheltered spot out of the wind and will grow in full sun or partial shade, but does not like being moved once established. This Daphne only grows to about 2-3ft (60-90cm) tall and forms an evergreen mound.

There are other varieties such as Daphne x burkwoodii ‘Somerset’ and Daphne bholua ‘Jacqueline Postill’ but in my opinion, none are as good as Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’.
